Villa Casagrande Hotel Description
Florence - Figline Valdarno Who arrives at the Roman Corner from the Piazza Marsilio Ficino, and follows the road for Via Castel Guinelli, will find almost at the end, on the right, La Casa Grande. Upon viewing it from the outside, one sees a simple, modest building. Even if the exterior has preserved its former look, the appearance of the outside does not reflect the beautiful treasures, which are contained on the inside. The Villa, which belonged to the Serristori family for six centuries, from the end of the Middle Ages to the Unification of Italy, has today found a new burst of life because of the interest in its history and beautiful works of art. Villa Casagrande, formerly a residence of artistic heritage frequented by kings, queens and popes, has been recently restored and is now a luxurious hotel. The thirty bedrooms have been furnished with modern comforts, taking care not to spoil the charm of this 12th century building. An ancient structure found within the castle walls has been converted and is now home to the swimming pool, the modern sauna and the gym. The ancient kitchen, where the Countess used to spend her days, is where the guests of the hotel meet to have their breakfast and to enjoy a nice cup of coffee. The restaurant, situated in the old weaponry room in the winter and in the shade of the courtyard in the warm summer months, has a well-researched typical Tuscan menu, to be complemented by one of the excellent Chianti wines produced by the farm. In the large rooms of the Villa it is possible to hold meetings, gatherings, shows and conferences. The Villa Casagrande is convenient to many dining, shopping and entertainment venues. |
